Albert Keim, an 85-year-old Hillsboro resident, died after a pickup truck struck the horse-drawn carriage he was traveling in Monday evening on State Route 138 in Highland County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Keim was heading southwest near Worley Mill Road at about 6:45 p.m. when a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado traveling in the same direction hit the back of the carriage, troopers said. Keim was flown to a Cincinnati hospital, where he died. The pickup’s driver, a 75-year-old man from Greenfield, suffered minor injuries and was treated at a hospital. The highway patrol is investigating. Authorities have not provided further details about what led to the collision.
