COLUMBUS, Ohio — Showers may return to the Columbus area late Thursday night and near daybreak Friday, following another wet day across Central Ohio. The forecast calls for drier conditions early Friday after the overnight showers move out. Skies will remain mostly cloudy through the morning, with some partial sunshine possible later. Temperatures should reach the upper 70s, close to seasonal averages. Friday evening football games are expected to take place in generally favorable conditions. Temperatures should be in the mid to upper 70s at kickoff, then fall into the upper 60s to lower 70s by the end of the games. Saturday is expected to begin dry, including during the noon Ohio State game. A few showers could develop late Saturday, with rain chances increasing overnight and continuing into Sunday. Both weekend days are forecast to reach the lower 80s, but Sunday has the better chance for widespread rain and a few rumbles of thunder. A weak front is expected to move south of the area Monday, keeping rain chances in the forecast while highs settle into the middle to upper 70s. Another disturbance could bring additional rain Tuesday and Wednesday, when temperatures are expected to remain in the lower 70s. Drier air may arrive Thursday, with highs returning to the middle 70s. A flood watch was posted for several Central and Southeastern Ohio counties, including Franklin, Fairfield, Fayette, Greene, Hocking, Madison, Pickaway, Pike and Ross counties.
