Nationwide Children’s Hospital has been named to U.S. News & World Report’s 2026-27 Best Children’s Hospitals Honor Roll for the 13th consecutive year, placing the Columbus hospital among 10 recognized nationwide. Nationwide Children’s tied Cincinnati Children’s Hospital for the top position in Ohio. The two Ohio hospitals also shared the No. 1 spot in the Midwest with Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. For the third consecutive year, U.S. News listed Honor Roll hospitals alphabetically rather than assigning them an overall national numerical ranking. The publication continues to rank hospitals by state, region and pediatric specialty. Nationwide Children’s seven top-10 specialty rankings were: - No. 3 in gastroenterology and gastrointestinal surgery - No. 5 in urology - No. 6 in nephrology - No. 7 in pulmonology - No. 8 in cancer care - No. 8 in neurology and neurosurgery - No. 8 in orthopedics The hospital ranked No. 13 nationally in both diabetes and endocrinology and neonatal care. Its cardiology and heart surgery program ranked No. 23. Nationwide Children’s was also recognized among the nation’s 50 leading pediatric behavioral health programs, a category in which U.S. News does not provide individual numerical rankings. The rankings are intended to help families and physicians identify hospitals equipped to care for children with serious or complex medical needs. U.S. News and research firm RTI International analyzed information from 114 children’s hospitals and surveyed thousands of pediatric specialists. The evaluation considered clinical outcomes, adherence to established care practices and the strength of resources tied directly to patient care. For state and regional rankings, hospitals received greater credit for consistently strong performance across all 11 specialties than for excelling in only one area. Nationwide Children’s employs more than 17,000 people and provides more than 2 million patient visits each year. The Columbus health system also houses Ohio State University College of Medicine’s Department of Pediatrics. “This recognition reflects our commitment to excellence and the extraordinary work of our teams, who provide exceptional care, pursue groundbreaking discoveries and support families through some of life’s most challenging moments,” CEO Tim Robinson said in a statement released by the hospital.
