Motorcyclist dies after striking wall on Kennedy’s Ontario Street ramp

A motorcyclist died Wednesday after striking a concrete wall on the Ontario Street feeder ramp to the Kennedy Expressway, Illinois State Police said.

Troopers were called shortly before 3 p.m. The rider was ejected from the motorcycle and landed in the southbound lanes, according to the preliminary investigation. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The crash prompted closures of the Kennedy’s express lanes between Ohio Street and Ogden Avenue while investigators worked at the scene. Multiple inbound lanes near Fulton Market and the Ontario Street feeder ramp were also closed, causing significant afternoon rush-hour delays.

Police had released no further information about the crash Wednesday.
