Great America’s Raging Bull shut after fatal fall at Six Flags Over Georgia
Six Flags has closed Raging Bull and several other similar coasters after a guest died and others were injured at its Georgia park. Great America is scheduled to remain open on select days and evenings through Nov. 1.
Six Flags Great America has temporarily closed its Raging Bull roller coaster after a fatal incident Monday at Six Flags Over Georgia prompted the company to shut similar rides across its parks.
The incident at the Georgia park involved a guest falling from the Goliath coaster, according to witnesses cited by local television station WXIA and NBC News. One person died and several others were injured. The circumstances of the fall were not detailed in the information released Monday.
Six Flags said comparable attractions were being closed “out of an abundance of caution.” A company spokesperson said the company was “deeply saddened” and offered condolences to the guest’s family and loved ones, adding that guest and employee safety remains a priority.
The company confirmed that Raging Bull, at the Gurnee amusement park, was among the rides taken out of service. Other named coasters include Nitro at Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey, and Behemoth and Leviathan at Canada’s Wonderland in Ontario. The rides are steel hypercoasters made by Swiss manufacturer Bolliger & Mabillard.
Great America is scheduled to open on select days and evenings before its seasonal closure for winter on Nov. 1. The company did not provide a timeline for when the affected coasters might reopen.
