CTA rail service rerouted as Lake Street bridge work pauses Green and Pink trains
Chicago Transit Authority riders will face changes on the Green and Pink lines beginning Tuesday, Oct. 13, as construction shuts down train service across the Lake Street bridge over the Chicago River. The disruption is expected to continue through Oct. 26. Free shuttle buses will run between the Clark/Lake and Clinton stations during the closure, according to the CTA. Pink Line trains will stop at Racine instead of continuing through the Loop. Riders there can transfer to the Blue Line. Green Line service will be split. Trains on the Lake Street branch will terminate at Clinton, where riders can board the shuttle to Clark/Lake. The line’s southern branch will continue to serve the Loop, operating in a counterclockwise direction before heading south again. The rail closure is part of a longer bridge construction project. The Lake Street bridge has been closed to vehicle traffic for more than a year, and the work is estimated to continue until January 2028.
