Tampa Bay rushes for 258 yards in decisive win over Carolina
The Buccaneers beat the Panthers 43-13 in Charlotte on Sunday, capitalizing on four Carolina turnovers and piling up 258 rushing yards. Carolina now faces a quick turnaround, with a Thursday night game against Green Bay ahead.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Tampa Bay dominated on the ground and forced four turnovers Sunday, defeating the Carolina Panthers 43-13 and narrowing Carolina’s lead in the NFC South.
The Buccaneers rushed for 258 yards, including 106 by Bucky Irving. That ground game limited quarterback Baker Mayfield to 11 pass attempts.
Carolina gave the ball away four times, with quarterback Bryce Young responsible for three turnovers. Young fumbled after taking a hit as he threw, then had an interception after a receiver slipped. A later pass was deflected at the line and intercepted by Tampa Bay.
Young also threw a long touchdown pass, but it did little to change the course of a game in which Tampa Bay controlled all three phases, according to the game account.
The Panthers have little time to regroup: they are scheduled to host the Green Bay Packers on Thursday, Oct. 29, just four days after Sunday’s loss.
