Isaias pushes Charlotte’s Blue Cross NC 300 to Sunday night
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Rain associated with Hurricane Isaias has postponed the Blue Cross NC 300 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, shifting the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series race from Saturday afternoon to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 11. The race is scheduled to follow the Bank of America 400, which remains set for 3 p.m. Sunday. Speedway officials said the revised Sunday schedule calls for parking lots to open at 8 a.m., with the fan zone opening afterward. All fan-zone activities, practice and qualifying scheduled for Saturday were canceled. The Blue Cross NC 300 had originally been set for 4 p.m. Saturday, alongside practice and qualifying for the Cup race. The schedule change comes as Isaias brings rain and the threat of flooding, gusty winds and possible severe weather to the Carolinas. The Cup race is still planned for Sunday afternoon, with organizers hoping the remaining rain will clear by then. Charlotte Motor Speedway advised fans who can no longer attend because of the change to check its website for information about its weather guarantee.
