CONCORD, N.C. — Rain from the outer bands of Hurricane Isaias canceled practice and qualifying Saturday morning for the Blue Cross NC 300 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, officials said. The race was still scheduled for 4 p.m. Saturday. Speedway officials announced at 7:30 a.m. that NASCAR rules would be used to set the lineup after the sessions were called off. NASCAR Cup Series practice and qualifying were still scheduled for 11 a.m., according to the announcement reported that morning. Isaias had been a Category 3 hurricane Friday in the Gulf of Mexico south of Florida and Mississippi, but had weakened as it moved inland. The storm’s rain disrupted the race-day schedule at the Concord track.
