Food Lion keeps stores open as parent company responds to network security issue
Food Lion’s website and mobile app were down Tuesday, Oct. 13, after its parent company, Ahold Delhaize, reported a security issue affecting its network and took some systems offline. The Salisbury-based grocery chain said it was working to assess and address the network problem. It did not provide details about the nature of the security issue or say whether customer information was affected. Food Lion stores remained open during normal business hours. Customers could place delivery orders through Instacart, DoorDash and Uber Eats, and access coupons and offers at in-store kiosks, the company said. Orders placed through Food Lion’s website or app for fulfillment during the outage will be refunded, according to a company spokesperson. Food Lion apologized for the disruption and said it was working to restore the services.
