A young girl was taken by ambulance to a hospital after a crash in Charlotte on Friday night. Police are looking for a driver who left the scene; security footage showed a gray Mercedes-Benz passing through the intersection shortly before the collision.
CHARLOTTE — Police are searching for a driver who allegedly left the scene of a crash that injured a young girl Friday night, Oct. 23. The child was taken by ambulance to a hospital.
Security camera footage showed a gray Mercedes-Benz driving through the intersection seconds before the collision, according to the report. Authorities have not publicly confirmed the girl’s age or her condition. The crash location was not identified.
A teenage neighborhood resident said officers surrounded the scene as neighbors tried to help. He recalled seeing emergency responders place the girl on a stretcher and load her into an ambulance.
“She wasn’t moving at all; I’m pretty sure she was unconscious when they put her on the stretcher,” the witness said.
The witness said family members were at the scene and described a young boy crying. The girl may be an elementary school student, neighbors told the broadcaster, but officials have not confirmed her age.
Police have not publicly identified the driver. Anyone with information about the gray Mercedes-Benz or the crash can contact Charlotte-Mecklenburg police.
