A.J. Brown, two injured Patriots starters set to face Jets in Foxborough
New England enters Sunday’s matchup on a two-game winning streak and gets wide receiver A.J. Brown back after his high ankle sprain. Left tackle Will Campbell and running back TreVeyon Henderson are also active despite injuries last week.
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — The New England Patriots will have wide receiver A.J. Brown back on the field for Sunday’s game against the New York Jets, after activating him from injured reserve Saturday.
Brown is expected to play for the first time since Week 1, when he suffered a high ankle sprain. The Patriots have not said how much they plan to use him as he returns to game action.
New England also has left tackle Will Campbell and running back TreVeyon Henderson available. Campbell sustained a knee sprain and Henderson an ankle injury last week, but both are active for the matchup at Gillette Stadium.
The Patriots, 3-2, are seeking a third straight win. They face a 2-3 Jets team whose defense ranks fifth in scoring, while New York’s offense ranks 27th. The meeting is the 135th between the AFC East rivals.
Quarterback Drake Maye and the Patriots offense will face pressure from a Jets defense expected to test New England’s passing game. Brown’s return adds a major receiving option, while Campbell’s availability preserves continuity on the offensive line and Henderson gives the team another option in the backfield.
