Three hospitalized after pickup truck strikes Fall River house
A person was trapped beneath the pickup and another inside after the crash on Brayton Avenue Saturday. Crews spent about 30 to 40 minutes freeing the person under the vehicle while managing live wires and sparks.
Three people were taken to hospitals after a pickup truck crashed into a home on Brayton Avenue in Fall River on Saturday, Oct. 24, according to Fall River EMS. Their conditions were not immediately known.
First responders found one person pinned beneath the truck and another trapped inside the vehicle. An EMS shift commander who was nearby arrived within seconds and began helping the person under the truck, the department said.
Fire crews took about 30 to 40 minutes to free that person. Responders faced live wires and active sparks from the house and vehicle, and EMS command pulled crews out of the home for safety. National Grid responded to shut off power.
One patient was transported to Rhode Island Hospital’s Trauma Center with a driver and two paramedics aboard the ambulance. The other two people were taken to local hospitals, EMS said.
The cause of the crash was not immediately clear. Fall River EMS urged drivers to observe speed limits and wear seat belts.
