Methuen police seek seven e-bike riders after reported rail-trail attack

Methuen police are seeking information about a group of seven e-bike riders after a senior resident reported being attacked from behind on the Methuen Rail Trail Friday afternoon.

The incident happened around 5:35 p.m. near the Nevins MSPCA, according to city officials. The group, believed to be teenagers, was riding from Lawrence toward Salem, New Hampshire, police said.

The resident spoke about the incident at Monday’s City Council meeting. Mayor D.J. Beauregard said the youths laughed as they rode away and condemned the reported attack, saying residents should be able to use trails and parks without fear of being assaulted or intimidated.

Police are asking anyone with information to email Officer E. Terrero at eterrero@methuen.gov.
