Woodlawn High gun traced to parent of another student, police say
Baltimore County police said the loaded gun confiscated at Woodlawn High School last week was registered to a parent of another student. The weapon was found after staff broke up a fight and investigated a report that a student might be armed.
A loaded gun confiscated at Woodlawn High School last week was registered to the parent of another student at the school, Baltimore County police said Monday, Oct. 19, 2026.
School staff found the weapon while responding to a fight between two students and investigating reports that one of them might have a gun. A school resource officer confiscated it and arrested the student. Police said the gun was not fired.
Police said they have increased resources at the school and in the surrounding area following threats of violence. They urged parents and guardians to talk with children about reporting potential threats to a school resource officer, teacher or law enforcement officer.
Police did not provide further details about the parent, the student’s arrest or the threats. The information released so far establishes that the firearm was registered to the parent, but does not say how it came to be at the school.
