Severna Park High School freshman Ryan Beales, 14, died Thursday night, a day after his e-moto collided with a pickup truck near the B&A Trail, Anne Arundel County officials and the school system said.
A preliminary police investigation found that Beales was riding south on the trail Wednesday night when he entered Robinson Road and struck the side of a Dodge Ram 1500 traveling on the road. He was taken by helicopter to a hospital with serious injuries.
In a letter to families Friday, Principal Nathan Johnson said the school had contacted Beales’ family to offer support. Counselors and student-services staff were available to help students, and additional staff members were brought in Friday, the school system said.
The crash remains under investigation.
