The FBI is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information that helps identify and arrest whoever was responsible for a drive-by shooting near Baltimore’s Douglass Homes that wounded seven people, including a 3-year-old boy who was left paralyzed.
The shooting happened at about 9:03 p.m. Sept. 16 in the 200 block of North Caroline Street, according to the FBI’s Baltimore Field Office. Police said the victims ranged in age from 3 to 43 and had gathered in an outdoor area with picnic tables where neighbors and children often spend time. The other six people suffered injuries described by police as not life-threatening.
Officers took the child to Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he underwent surgery. Police said a stolen silver Hyundai Elantra believed to be connected to the shooting was later found in the 1500 block of East 28th Street. No suspects have been publicly identified, and investigators are seeking surveillance footage.
Douglass Homes resident Jemila Garrison said the gunfire frightened her family and that learning a child was among the wounded was especially upsetting. She called for an end to the violence.
