Maryland Storm Watch Runs Through 8 p.m. as Cold Front Heads Toward Baltimore
A severe thunderstorm watch covers parts of Maryland until 8 p.m. Friday, with damaging winds and isolated tornadoes identified as the main risks. Storms were expected to reach Baltimore around 6 p.m., followed by a sharp temperature drop.
Parts of Maryland were under a severe thunderstorm watch until 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, as a strong cold front moved toward the region.
Storms were expected to reach the Baltimore area at about 6 p.m. and move across the Chesapeake Bay between 7 and 8 p.m. The primary severe-weather threats were damaging wind gusts and isolated tornadoes, according to the forecast.
A watch means conditions could support severe storms; residents were urged to have a way to receive weather warnings in case a severe thunderstorm or tornado develops.
After the front passes, temperatures were forecast to fall quickly into the 50s before midnight, with colder, windy conditions settling in.
