A former restaurant site in Glen Burnie is set to become a shared commercial kitchen for food trucks, caterers and other small food businesses after selling for $2.125 million.

The property at 625 Greenway Road, which most recently housed Mike’s Inland at Sunset, was sold recently, according to information released this week. Culinary Square owner Gretchen Moran plans to open the facility in the spring.

The roughly 6,000-square-foot space is expected to accommodate as many as 50 member businesses. In addition to commercial kitchen and storage space, plans include cooking classes, networking and special events.

Moran expects operators to use the facility for about 18 to 36 months before moving on, ideally to their own brick-and-mortar locations. The concept is intended to give emerging food businesses a place to prepare and sell products while they build toward independent premises.

The site has a long history as a restaurant. Sunset Restaurant operated there for 60 years before closing in 2020. Mike’s Inland at Sunset later occupied the property for two years and closed in August.
