A loaded gun was found in a student’s backpack at Stony Point High School on Friday, Sept. 25, after an anonymous tip prompted an investigation by school administrators and Round Rock ISD officers, the district said. School officials identified two students believed to be involved. One student allegedly ran from officers when they approached in the cafeteria and struggled with them before being detained, according to a letter from Principal Anthony Watson to families. Two officers received medical attention from emergency medical personnel following the altercation. A district spokesperson said they were treated at the scene and released. Watson wrote that the student found with the gun will not be allowed back on campus. The district has not said what disciplinary action the second student may face. Round Rock ISD said the students did not threaten anyone and that the campus remains safe.
