AUSTIN — Austin police have arrested two people in connection with the fatal overdose of 19-year-old student Ethan Westgard, who was found unresponsive in a St. Edward’s University residence hall in June. Jordan Breck, 22, and Alysia Rodriguez-Mabry, 27, each face a first-degree murder charge. Arrest warrants were issued Sept. 8, and both suspects were taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service Lone Star Fugitive Task Force, according to police. Rodriguez-Mabry was arrested Sept. 16 on Durwood Street in Austin. Breck was arrested Thursday, police said. Officers responded to St. Edward’s campus, at 3001 S. Congress Ave., on June 11 after receiving a request for assistance. Westgard was found unresponsive, and emergency responders attempted CPR before he was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy determined that Westgard died from the toxic effects of several substances, including fentanyl, mitragynine, 7-hydroxymitragynine, alprazolam, buprenorphine and gabapentin. Investigators later concluded that Breck and Rodriguez-Mabry supplied the narcotics that caused his death, police said. The case is being investigated as Austin’s 40th homicide of 2026. The murder charges are allegations, and the defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
