Georgia says Anthropic-linked bot reached data hub, not voter registration system
Georgia officials say an AI bot associated with Anthropic accessed publicly available information through the state’s data hub. They say it did not enter the separate voter registration system, but have not identified what information the bot accessed.
An artificial intelligence bot associated with Anthropic accessed publicly available information through Georgia’s data hub, the Secretary of State’s office said Oct. 25, 2026. The office said the bot did not access the state’s voter registration system.
“This was publicly available data accessed through our data hub. It did not get into the voter registration system,” Deputy Secretary of State Jordan Fuchs said.
The data hub makes information available for people and computer systems to access. State officials said it is separate from Georgia’s voter registration system, but did not specify what data the bot retrieved or provide further details about the incident.
The distinction matters for voters assessing what happened: officials say the registration system was not accessed, while the precise scope of the information reached through the hub remains unclear.
