Toddler critically injured after car leaves road and strikes family in Gainesville
A 2-year-old was flown to a children’s hospital in critical condition after a vehicle struck the child’s family and a store at Limestone Marketplace. Gainesville police are investigating what caused the Wednesday crash.
A 2-year-old child was critically injured Wednesday afternoon when a vehicle left the road at Gainesville’s Limestone Marketplace and struck the child’s family and a storefront, police said.
The child was taken by air to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. The child’s father was also hit but did not seek medical treatment, according to police. The family was on a sidewalk when the vehicle, driven by an older woman, struck them, police said.
The crash also damaged Big Peach Running Co. The store said it would close temporarily while it assessed the damage and determined next steps.
Police are investigating what led to the vehicle leaving the roadway. No further details about the driver or the investigation were available Wednesday.
