The federal contract with GEO Group to operate Tacoma’s Northwest ICE Processing Center is set to expire Oct. 27, leaving the facility’s future uncertain as Washington congressional members seek information about a possible federal purchase.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has not said whether it intends to buy the detention center. The possibility appeared in a federal document in August, but no purchase has been confirmed.
