King County investigators examine death discovered after White Center-area fire
Firefighters responding to an illegal burn at an encampment in Seattle’s White Center Pond Natural Area found a body Monday. The King County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit is investigating; the person’s identity and cause of death have not been released.
A body was found Monday morning in Seattle’s White Center Pond Natural Area after King County firefighters extinguished an illegal burn at what authorities described as an encampment.
The King County Sheriff’s Office said its Major Crimes Unit is investigating the death. The King County Medical Examiner’s Office had not released the person’s identity or cause of death as of Monday afternoon.
Authorities have not announced whether the fire and the death are believed to be connected.
