83 workers face layoffs as dining contracts at T-Mobile and Benaroya Hall change hands
Seattle-based DSquared Hospitality expects to lay off 83 employees around Dec. 20 as national providers take over its T-Mobile and Benaroya Hall dining accounts. The company says it is working with Aramark on potential jobs for 57 affected workers; Sidekick Pub at T-Mobile’s Bellevue campus is expected to remain open.
Seattle-based DSquared Hospitality Company expects to lay off 83 employees around Dec. 20, as its dining contracts at T-Mobile’s Bellevue headquarters and Benaroya Hall transition to national service providers.
A Washington state Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification filing lists 62 full-time and 21 part-time workers expected to be affected. The positions include managers, baristas and chefs, among others. DSquared said it is working with Aramark to help 57 employees pursue opportunities to be rehired.
Sidekick Pub in T-Mobile Market Hall is expected to continue operating under the incoming provider, according to DSquared spokesperson Lissa Gruman. DSquared also managed several dining services on the Bellevue campus, including fast-casual restaurants, cafes, convenience retail, pantry services, Starbucks staffing, and catering for meetings and events.
The company said it will continue operating its Seattle venues and offsite catering business while seeking new clients. Its venues include 4105 in SODO and The Hall at Fauntleroy in West Seattle. “While changes to our corporate accounts present a significant transition for our team, we have a strong foundation to build on,” Chief Operating Officer Reed Haggerty said in a company release.
