Two arrested in connection with August assault and gun threat at San Jose fast-food restaurant

Two people were arrested in connection with an August altercation at a fast-food restaurant in San Jose in which a father was allegedly threatened with a gun, police said.

The incident happened shortly before 9 p.m. Aug. 3 at a restaurant in the 1100 block of South King Road. A man, a woman and their young daughter were at the restaurant when another woman allegedly assaulted the mother after an altercation, police said. When the father tried to intervene, a male suspect allegedly assaulted him, displayed a gun and threatened to shoot him.

The suspects left before officers arrived. Detectives used license-plate reader data to identify a vehicle they said was associated with the suspects. Alejandro Valencia, 30, and Krystelle Tieu Acosta, 23, were arrested in Union City on Oct. 7, police said.

Investigators also searched a residence under a warrant and reported finding two guns and evidence they said connected the suspects to the incident. Both were booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, felony battery and making criminal threats. The allegations have not been proven in court.
