Family Court chief selects Picard, Ragosta for Rhode Island magistrate posts
Therese M. Picard and Robert A. Ragosta have been selected for two Family Court magistrate positions, pending state Senate approval. They would fill seats vacated when Alberto Aponte Cardona and Andrea Iannazzi became full judges.
Two attorneys have been selected for Rhode Island Family Court magistrate positions, where they would handle matters including custody cases and contested divorces if confirmed by the state Senate.
Chief Judge Michael B. Forte chose Therese M. Picard, a family law practitioner, and Robert A. Ragosta, an associate municipal and auxiliary probate court judge in Cranston. Their selections are awaiting Senate approval.
The positions became vacant after magistrates Alberto Aponte Cardona and Andrea Iannazzi advanced to full judgeships on the court. The Senate’s approval is the remaining step identified for Picard and Ragosta to take the magistrate seats.
