Ammunition found at Warwick technical center; nearby high school also briefly restricted
Warwick school officials restricted movement at the career and technical center and nearby Toll Gate High School Tuesday morning while police investigated ammunition found inside the center. The schools returned to regular operations, and the superintendent said there was no threat.
Movement was restricted at the Warwick Area Career and Technical Center on Tuesday morning after a round of ammunition was found inside the building, school officials said. Nearby Toll Gate High School was also placed under restrictions while police investigated.
The restrictions were a precaution, officials said. Superintendent William McCaffrey said in a statement that “at no point was there any threat involved in this morning’s events.”
School leaders later said the situation had been resolved and both schools had returned to regular operations. McCaffrey said police would maintain an increased presence throughout the day Tuesday.
