Three injured in stabbing near Goble; sheriff says no threat remains
Three people suffered stab wounds in an incident that began near a quarry outside Goble on Saturday night. Two were airlifted to a hospital, and all three are expected to survive, Columbia County Sheriff Brian Pixley said.
Three people were injured in a stabbing incident near Goble on Saturday night, and two were flown to a hospital, Columbia County Sheriff Brian Pixley said Sunday. All three are expected to survive, he said.
The incident began at a quarry near the intersection of U.S. Highway 30 and Nicolai Road, Pixley said. He said there was no ongoing threat to the community. The sheriff did not provide details about what led to the stabbings and said he planned to issue a statement Monday after meeting with the Columbia County Major Crimes Team.
A woman with a stab wound reached the Goble Tavern, a short distance south of Nicolai Road, according to people working there. Tawnya Causey, who was working in the back, said she heard a commotion outside before someone called out that they had been stabbed.
The woman initially appeared frantic, said a bartender identified as DJ. He said he applied pressure to her wound while tavern patrons gathered medical supplies. Causey said the woman was already calling 911, and an ambulance soon arrived.
DJ said he believed the woman had driven herself to the tavern after being stabbed. Video recorded by a community member showed St. Helens police putting crime-scene tape around a vehicle outside the tavern.
