Search continues for 3-year-old Joshua Ovalles after Amber Alert is canceled
Authorities are still searching for 3-year-old Joshua Ovalles, who police say was taken from the Beaverton area Wednesday morning by a parent who is not his guardian. Oregon State Police said Mari Cruz Martinez allegedly took Ovalles at about 10 a.m. Oct. 7. Police issued an Amber Alert shortly before 4:30 p.m. that day, citing threats Martinez allegedly made to harm the child and saying Martinez could be armed with a gun. Police canceled the alert later Wednesday evening after finding a white Mercedes associated with Martinez. Officers continued searching for Martinez and Ovalles, however, and had not reported finding them as of Thursday, Oct. 8. Anyone who sees Ovalles or Martinez should call 911, police said.
