Clark County investigates suspicious death after woman’s body recovered from Columbia River

Clark County sheriff’s deputies and Vancouver firefighters recovered a woman’s body from the Columbia River near the Interstate 5 bridge at about 9 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, officials said. The Clark County Sheriff’s Office said someone reported seeing her floating in the water.

Investigators have not identified the woman and described her death as suspicious. That designation does not establish how she died or whether a crime occurred; the circumstances remain under investigation.

Officials said the woman may have been of Asian or Pacific Islander descent. She was described as about 5 feet 4 inches tall and 150 pounds, with a birthmark on the right calf.

The Clark County Major Crimes Unit and the county medical examiner’s office are investigating. Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office tip line at 564-397-2847.
