Cardinals set to sit Marvin Harrison Jr. as trade talks near completion
TEMPE, Ariz. — The Arizona Cardinals are finalizing a trade of wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. and have told him he will not play Sunday against the Detroit Lions as the deal is completed, according to ESPN. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Arizona is seeking first-round value for Harrison, whom the team selected fourth overall. No trade partner or terms had been announced in the report. Harrison has caught five passes for 85 yards and a touchdown on 12 targets through four games this season. He ranks fifth on the Cardinals in targets, behind tight end Trey McBride, receivers Michael Wilson and Kendrick Bourne, and rookie running back Jeremiyah Love, according to ESPN. The move would part the Cardinals with a high-drafted receiver early in his career. For now, the team’s decision to make Harrison inactive leaves Arizona without him for its matchup with Detroit while trade negotiations continue.
