Maricopa County ballots top 630,000 as final week of voting begins
About 630,000 ballots had been returned in Maricopa County by Monday morning, roughly 50,000 more than at the same point in the 2022 midterm election. Tuesday, Oct. 27, is the last day to mail a ballot; voters can also use drop boxes or vote in person.
PHOENIX — Maricopa County had received about 630,000 ballots by Monday morning, putting returns roughly 50,000 ahead of the pace at the same point in the 2022 midterm election, county election data shows.
For voters who have not returned a mail ballot, Tuesday, Oct. 27, is the last day to send it by mail, according to the Arizona Clean Elections Commission. After Tuesday, voters can drop off their ballots at a drop box or early voting center.
Nearly 50 vote centers are open across the county this week, with locations operating daily except Sunday. On Election Day, 254 polling centers are scheduled to be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.; voters may use any of them. People who misplaced their mail ballots can vote in person, said Tom Collins, executive director of Arizona Clean Elections.
The county’s 2022 midterm turnout was 64%, above its historical average of 56%. Collins also said voters may choose which races to vote in and can leave other contests blank without affecting the choices they did make.
Maricopa County voters can check their ballot status through the county’s ballot-tracking service.
