Phoenix police say Daniel Thompson, 48, and Michael Hummel, 30, were arrested in connection with a burglary at a storage facility near 24th Street and Indian School Road. The stolen items included apparel from MLB player Daniel Johnson’s career with several teams and were valued at about $93,000.
Two men have been arrested on suspicion of stealing about $93,000 in memorabilia and clothing from a Phoenix storage facility, including gear belonging to Major League Baseball player Daniel Johnson, police say.
Daniel Thompson, 48, and Michael Hummel, 30, are accused of breaking into Johnson’s storage unit and several other units at a facility near 24th Street and Indian School Road last week. Phoenix police said managers at the facility recognized the men as suspects in a separate burglary at another Phoenix storage facility.
Johnson said the stolen collection included shirts, hoodies, jackets, shorts, long-sleeved shirts, batting gloves and hats associated with multiple teams. He played for Cleveland, Baltimore, San Francisco and Houston during his baseball career.
Police estimated the value of the stolen memorabilia and apparel at about $93,000. The available information did not specify whether any of the items had been recovered or what charges the men face.
