Pa. Supreme Court leaves skill-game removal deadline in place
Pennsylvania businesses must begin removing skill games Tuesday after the state Supreme Court rejected requests to extend the deadline. The court had ruled over the summer that the machines are illegal slot machines.
HARRISBURG, Pa. — Pennsylvania’s ban on skill games is set to take effect Tuesday after the state Supreme Court on Friday denied requests to delay the deadline for removing the machines from businesses.
A business consortium representing skill-game operators had sought to keep the ban from proceeding. The court’s decision leaves the removal deadline in place, affecting businesses across the state that have the machines on their premises.
The Supreme Court ruled in the summer that skill games are illegal slot machines and must comply with gambling law. The latest decision clears the way for the planned ban to begin.
