JPMorgan plans 100 hires as it expands its Center City headquarters
JPMorgan Chase plans to move its Philadelphia-area corporate offices from One Liberty Place to a 62,000-square-foot floor at 2400 Market St., with more than 100 new hires expected over the next few years, the bank announced Tuesday, Oct. 13. The fifth-floor office will bring together about 260 employees now based at One Liberty Place and 1735 Market St. JPMorgan private bank managing director Stephen Wright said the space is expected to hold 370 workers when fully occupied. They include corporate and investment bankers, securities traders and wealth managers. The building on the Schuylkill’s east bank also houses Aramark, Audacy and the Fitler Club. Aramark is relinquishing the floor as it consolidates its in-office staff. JPMorgan said about 200 construction workers will help renovate the space over the next 18 months. Wright said the nearby Amtrak station at 30th Street is an advantage for employees traveling to the bank’s New York headquarters and its Washington hub. JPMorgan also has more than 12,000 employees in Delaware, he said. The bank, which employs more than 600 people in Philadelphia and its suburbs, is also expanding its services for wealthy customers. Its private-banking staff in the city has doubled since 2021, and the bank plans to double it again by 2031, according to Colin Wetherill, the unit’s Mid-Atlantic head of investments and advice. JPMorgan also plans a public branch at a former 7-Eleven near 22nd and Market Streets. JPMorgan says it serves more than 250,000 consumers and nearly 23,000 small-business customers in the region. It has 80 Chase branches in the Philadelphia area and plans to open at least 20 more. The company reported managing $5 trillion in loans and other assets, plus just over $5 trillion in investments, as of June 30.
