Officers responded around 11:30 p.m. to reports of gunfire near Easton Road and Greenwood Avenue. They found a gunshot victim on the ground beside a white Nissan, which had at least one apparent bullet hole in its rear door.

Police used K-9 units during the investigation and are reviewing surveillance footage from the shopping center. Authorities have not said whether they are seeking a suspect or disclosed a possible motive.

The Walmart at 1000 S. Easton Road was closed Thursday while the investigation continued. The store is a regular early-morning destination for local shoppers and typically opens at 6 a.m.
