Chester laundry shooting defendant sentenced to consecutive life terms

A Delaware County judge sentenced Wilbert Rosado-Ruiz to two consecutive life terms in prison Friday for a shooting at a Chester laundry business that killed two brothers and wounded three other employees.

Rosado-Ruiz was convicted of murder in the deaths of Giguenson Peña Peña and Leovanny Rojas Peña Peña, who were from the Dominican Republic. He was also found guilty of aggravated assault and other crimes for the May 22, 2024, attack at Delaware County Linen, a family-owned business on West Fourth Street.

Rosado-Ruiz worked at the company. Officials said he argued with a co-worker that morning, went outside and made a phone call, then returned and opened fire. Three employees were injured, including the woman involved in the initial argument.

Surveillance video captured Rosado-Ruiz moving through the business and firing, according to then-District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer, who described the gunman as walking methodically. Investigators also said Rosado-Ruiz followed the wounded woman across the street and shot at her again after she left the building.

Police officers from Trainer later stopped Rosado-Ruiz’s car after authorities circulated its description, Chester Police Commissioner Steven Gretsky said. Officials said Rosado-Ruiz had legally bought the gun in 2018 but did not have a license to carry it concealed.

The two consecutive sentences mean Rosado-Ruiz must serve the life terms one after the other. The case stemmed from violence inside a local workplace that left two brothers dead and three colleagues injured.
