Former Chord Energy chief Daniel Brown to lead Expand Energy starting Oct. 26

Expand Energy, the natural gas producer formerly known as Chesapeake Energy, has named Daniel Brown as its next president and chief executive officer, the company said Monday, Oct. 19.

Brown is scheduled to take over Oct. 26. He joins Expand from Chord Energy, a Houston-based company where he served as CEO.

Michael Wichterich, who has been Expand’s CEO since February, will return to his position as non-executive chairman of the board.

The leadership change comes as Expand moves away from its Chesapeake Energy identity and amid plans to leave Oklahoma City for Houston. The company’s transition could affect its ties to Oklahoma, where Chesapeake was founded and long maintained its headquarters.
