COLUMBIA, Tenn. — State Rep. Justin Pearson joined other Democratic candidates at Missionary Baptist Church in Columbia to encourage Tennesseans to vote in the 2026 midterm elections, in a rally held after President Donald Trump’s appearance at a Republican event in Clarksville. Trump urged people to vote at the Clarksville rally on Saturday and singled out Pearson, who is running against Republican Brent Taylor for Tennessee’s 9th Congressional District. Pearson’s Columbia gathering brought Democratic candidates together to make their own appeal for voter participation. The rallies put the closely watched congressional contest in the spotlight as candidates campaign ahead of the midterms. The available details did not identify the other candidates who spoke in Columbia or provide their remarks.
