Lebanon warehouse illness response sends 19 people to area hospitals
Emergency crews treated about 25 to 30 people at Walmart’s distribution center in Lebanon after reports of a possible food-related illness. Nineteen were taken to area hospitals as local officials investigated.
About 25 to 30 people received medical care after a possible food-related illness affected workers at the Walmart distribution center on Hixson Boulevard in Lebanon, according to the Wilson County Emergency Management Agency.
Emergency responders were called after a woman reported symptoms. As more people became ill, additional units were requested, the agency said. Nineteen people were transported to area hospitals; others were assessed at a triage site at the facility.
Mt. Juliet Emergency Medical Services and Rutherford County EMS assisted with the response. The cause of the illnesses has not been established, and officials have not said what food, if any, may have been involved.
Walmart said it was working with local emergency management and health officials. “The health and safety of our associates is a top priority,” the company said in a statement.
The Wilson County agency said the incident remained under review and that it had no further information to provide. The Tennessee Department of Health had been asked for comment.
