Kenosha police seek man after two relatives found dead; he faces Seattle murder charge

KENOSHA, Wis. — Kenosha police are seeking a 33-year-old man after officers found his mother and her husband dead inside an apartment Monday, Oct. 19. Michael A. Oneal Fleming is considered a person of interest in the deaths and has been described by police as “armed, dangerous and unstable.”

Police issued an alert Tuesday. Fleming is about 5 feet, 8 inches tall, weighs roughly 250 pounds, and has short hair and brown eyes, according to the alert. He was last seen in northwest Kenosha and may be wearing black clothing and carrying a large backpack. Police urged anyone who sees him to call 911 and not approach him.

The deaths were discovered during a welfare check at an apartment near 55th Avenue and Washington Road. Court documents identify the deceased as Fleming’s mother, Rena Oneal, and her husband, Rodney Bushwood. Preliminary indications were that they had been dead for several days.

Fleming is charged with first-degree murder in the Oct. 13 shooting death of Graeme Dobbeck, an employee at a Seattle gas station, court documents say. Dobbeck was found with multiple gunshot wounds. The station’s owner identified the suspected shooter in surveillance footage as Fleming, a former employee, based on his appearance and distinctive gait, according to the documents. The owner said Fleming’s last shift was 11 days before the shooting and reported no known disputes involving him or Dobbeck.

In Kenosha, Fleming’s twin brother told investigators that recent text messages from Fleming seemed erratic and delusional, and suggested he might be experiencing a mental health crisis, according to court records. Police have not announced an arrest or said whether the Kenosha deaths are being treated as homicides. Fleming is a person of interest in that investigation; that designation is not a criminal charge.
