Wilton Manors detectives seek suspect after man injured during dog walk
Gianni Kahlo says a person armed with a sharp object attacked him Saturday night near Wilton Drive, cutting his hand and neck. He received stitches and says fear and his injuries have kept him from working.
Wilton Manors police are seeking information about an attacker who injured a man walking his dogs Saturday night near Northeast 19th Street and Wilton Drive.
Gianni Kahlo said the attack happened at about 10 p.m. near Richardson Historic Park & Nature Preserve. He heard something behind him, then saw a hand reaching toward him. Kahlo said he let go of his dogs and tried to defend himself.
The attacker had something sharp, Kahlo said. He realized his hand was cut during the encounter and noticed an injury to his neck after he got home. He called 911 and was taken by first responders to Broward Health Medical Center, where he received stitches.
Kahlo said Wednesday that he remained in pain and was afraid to leave home. The injuries have also prevented him from working as a hairstylist, according to a fundraiser organized by McKenzie Henderson, who knows him through his work at Ron’s Barbershop in Fort Lauderdale. The fundraiser says Kahlo depends on his hands to serve clients and worries about losing his business.
