Tamarac suspect held without bond after mother’s fatal stabbing
Manuel Farfan Cabello, 28, appeared in court Sunday after being accused of killing his mother at their Tamarac home. A judge denied bond and ordered him to undergo a mental health screening.
TAMARAC, Fla. — Manuel Farfan Cabello, 28, appeared before a judge Sunday, two days after Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies said he fatally stabbed his mother at a home in Tamarac.
Farfan Cabello heard the charges through a Spanish interpreter. The judge denied him bond and ordered a mental health screening.
Deputies said they were called to the home in the area of Northwest 28th Avenue at about 7:45 p.m. Friday. They identified the victim as Ylda Cabello-Ynocente and said she had been stabbed multiple times. First responders pronounced her dead at the scene.
Investigators searched the property and surrounding area for hours into Saturday. Their search extended across the street, and a dive team entered a nearby lake to look for evidence, according to the sheriff’s office.
Neighbors said Farfan Cabello had gone door to door asking for money several hours before the stabbing. On Sunday, family members returned to the home to clean up.
Farfan Cabello’s aunt said he has schizophrenia and receives treatment, but she does not have access to his medical records or history. She said she wants him to get help.
The allegations have not been proven in court.
