Second suspect charged after Sunrise crash killed driver; cars reportedly topped 115 mph

A second driver has been arrested in connection with a high-speed crash that killed a motorist in Sunrise, according to Broward County jail records.

Joshua Immanuel Saindyc, 24, was arrested Thursday, Oct. 15, on charges including DUI manslaughter, vehicular homicide, racing on a highway, reckless driving causing injury and dangerous excessive speeding. The charges are allegations; the records do not establish guilt.

The crash happened about 3:10 a.m. May 10 in the 2700 block of North University Drive. Arrest reports say Saindyc and 25-year-old Samuel Morency were driving Dodge Chargers and racing when they collided with a third vehicle, killing its driver. The victim was not identified in the information available.

Morency was arrested Sept. 30 on similar charges. Investigators estimated his car was traveling 124 mph and Saindyc’s about 117 mph roughly a tenth of a second before impact. The road’s posted speed limit is 45 mph, according to the reports, which describe the cars as traveling at an “extreme rate of speed.”

Investigators said the two drivers had been at a bar drinking with friends before the crash. Both were hospitalized after the collision, which heavily damaged all three vehicles.
