A girl was bitten several times Wednesday afternoon behind a home near Northwest 66th Street and was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital. Miami-Dade sheriff’s deputies said the family dog ran off after a deputy tried to stop it with a Taser.
A girl was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital after a dog bit her several times Wednesday afternoon in northwest Miami-Dade, and the animal remained loose that night, the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office said.
The attack was reported at about 4:40 p.m. behind a home off Northwest 66th Street near Liberty City. Deputies said the dog was a family pet. The girl’s age and condition were not immediately known, and investigators were still looking into what led to the attack.
Deputies said the dog acted aggressively toward them when they arrived. A deputy tried to use a Taser, after which the dog ran away. A caller reporting the incident described an “aggressive dog, chasing kids and biting them.”
A damaged, empty cage was behind the main house after the attack, and warning signs were posted outside. Neighbors also cautioned others to watch for the dog.
