A Sparta man convicted of killing one person and committing other violent acts in two domestic violence cases has been sentenced to 36 years in prison, the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office announced Tuesday. Andrew Nauman, 41, was convicted in June of first-degree reckless homicide, first-degree recklessly endangering safety and two counts of strangulation. The cases involved two different victims, with one incident occurring in June 2024 and the other in October 2024, prosecutors said. After completing the prison term, Nauman will serve 22 years of extended supervision. Judge Todd Bjerke imposed the sentence. “Nauman’s choices have caused irreparable harm to the victims and their families,” Monroe County District Attorney Kevin Croninger said in a statement. “While that harm cannot be undone, we hope that this sentence will, on some level, provide a measure of justice and accountability.” The Sparta Police Department investigated the cases. Prosecutors did not release additional details about the victims or the circumstances of the attacks in the announcement.
