MADISON, Wis. — A 36-year-old Racine man died after being shot early Sunday in the parking lot of a Madison shopping center, authorities said. Madison police were called to Northgate Shopping Center, 2501 N. Sherman Ave., at about 1:45 a.m. Officers found Skyler Thomas on the ground. Emergency responders took him to a hospital, where he later died. The Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office identified Thomas and said a forensic autopsy was completed Monday. The cause and manner of death remained pending Wednesday as additional testing continued. Video from the scene showed people gathered around Thomas while he received medical attention. Other people appeared to run or drive away, and a nearby parked vehicle was damaged. No arrest had been made as of Wednesday afternoon. Madison police and the medical examiner’s office continue to investigate the circumstances of the shooting.
