Peter Crook, 65, identified as worker killed near Madison’s Pflaum and Alder roads

Peter Crook, a 65-year-old road worker from Lone Rock, died at the scene of a crash near Pflaum and Alder roads on Madison’s east side, the Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office said Wednesday, Sept. 30. The crash was reported at about 1:10 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24. The medical examiner’s office completed a forensic autopsy on Sept. 26, but Crook’s cause and manner of death remained undetermined as of Wednesday. Madison police believe two vehicles were racing before the crash. Both drivers have come forward and are cooperating with investigators, police said. Their names have not been released, and no arrests had been made as of Sept. 30.
